Foundry Hall presents another documentary film on Tuesday, April 19th as part of their film series this season with Shirley Clarke: A Retrospective. Shirley Clarke (October 2, 1919 – September 23, 1997) began her professional career as a dancer in the late 1940s. In the 1950s and 1960s she was a leader of the independent film-making scene in New York City. She blended her passion for dance and film in many innovative films and later brought the improvisational nature of the jazz scene and music into her films. Hosted by Julian Lauzzana, audiance members will take a brief look at some of her earliest works then watch her last completed film “Ornette Coleman: Made in America” in it’s entirety. As part of their effort to make the films acceessible to as many people as possible, a donation of only $2 per person is requested at the door.
