Hospitality Career Scholarship for Van Buren County Students

Bob Leksich, Christmas 2008
The Van Buren County Convention and Visitors Bureau sponsors a scholarship each year for a high school student pursuing a careeer in the hospitality field.  Students from Van Buren county communities are encouraged to apply for the scholarship before the April 30th deadline.  The scholarship awarded is a minimum of $1000 towards the first year of college.

The scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Bob Leksich from the Victoria Resort.  Bob Leksich and his wife Jan were co-owners of the Victoria Resort in South Haven for nearly two decades.  In 2009 Bob lost his battle with cancer.  An active and vocal member of the visitors bureau and other lodging organizations, the Van Buren CVB has dedicated a yearly scholarship in his honor.

The Victoria Resort gratefully acknowledges the support of the Visitors Bureau during those first difficult years without Bob.  Through nearly twenty-five years of business, the Victoria has employed dozens of successful graduates of South Haven High School - including several who pursued education and careers in the hospitality industry.
