South Haven's indoor winter sports - loosely applied

Okay, okay.  So the term "sport" might be a little generous, but c'mon we all know about the 12 ounce curls right?  And there certainly are steps into the wine cellar...

This winter, the Saugatuck Brewing Company has started offering tours of their brewing facility.  The tours are planned for Saturday afternoons at 2 pm, and are limited to the first twenty people who sign up at the brewery.  The cost is $7.50 per person and includes endless information, beer tasting during the tour and either a logo pint glass or growler.  If more than twenty people show up, they will happily conduct a second tour around 3:30 pm.

A short twenty minute drive from South Haven, the SBC is a great destination for a local brew and excellent food selections.  Hint: the pub platter of prosciutto, salami,
house smoked peppered ham, multiple cheeses and cashews...well it's the mediterrean diet on a single plate, and how could you not love that?  And the Douglas Club...delicious.

Winter visitors should note that Tuesday night is "Team Trivia" at the Lucky Stone Pub at the SBC.  As a pair or with others, enjoy friendly competition each Tuesday evening beginning at 7 pm.  As a former competitor (failed miserably) I can tell you it's a lot of fun, and with a good beer, a plate of food and the chance to win cash it's a great time.  By the way, there's no cost to participate - just show up!

Throughout winter and spring, the folks at Fenn Valley host a cellar tour on Saturday afternoons.  Seriously, you'll want to keep a few layers on because the cellar is chilled - and filled with wine!  The winemaker will escort up to twenty-two people into the cellar and let you taste, sip and savor as he explains the wine making process.  You'll get samples direct from the stainless steel casks (crisp clean whites!) and the terribly expensive white oak barrels (delicious reds!).  The cost is only $8 per person, and includes your logo wine glass and a five dollar credit towards the purchase of wine.  You'll never look at a bottle of wine the same.  Book online through Fenn Valley's website.

Of course, you are welcome to enjoy one of the Victoria's rooms in the bed and breakfast, or bring your friends for a fun getaway to a guest cottage.  We are glad to share insider information and help you plan your visit to the South Haven area!
