There's something phenomenal about a true musician. The songs, the tunes and the talent just pour out with such little effort, it leaves the rest of us shaking our heads in amazement. Such is the case with Matt Scutchfield, a multi-instrumentalist who effortlessly plays banjo, guitar, fiddle and nearly anything with strings. He has composed several caprices, opuses and a symphony.
His passion is bluegrass, jazz and folk tunes and he regularly leads instructional classes in the South Bend area. On Saturday, January 4th he'll be performing with his trio "The Greasy Skillet Stringband" for a lively show filled with bluegrass, folk and Americana at Foundry Hall in downtown South Haven.
